Orbital floor lateral to the nasolacrimal groove.
Insertion
Sclera beneath the lateral rectus.
Action
Elevates, abducts and extorts the eye.
Nerve supply
Oculomotor nerve (CN III) — inferior division.
Blood supply
Ophthalmic artery.
Clinical relevance
It is the only extraocular muscle arising from the orbital floor anteriorly — spared but sometimes trapped in floor fractures.
