Anterior surfaces of ribs 3–5.
Insertion
Coracoid process of the scapula.
Action
Stabilises and depresses the scapula; protracts it and assists forced inspiration by lifting the ribs.
Nerve supply
Medial pectoral nerve (C8–T1).
Blood supply
Pectoral branch of the thoracoacromial artery.
Clinical relevance
Its tendon is the surgical landmark dividing the axilla into three levels for lymph node dissection; tightness rounds the shoulders of desk workers.
