Subclavius

First rib (junction of bone and cartilage).
Insertion
Groove on the inferior surface of the clavicle.
Action
Depresses and stabilises the clavicle in the sternoclavicular joint, cushioning it during shoulder falls.
Nerve supply
Nerve to subclavius (C5–C6).
Blood supply
Clavicular branches of the thoracoacromial artery.
Clinical relevance
The subclavius' cushioning protects the subclavian vessels in mid-clavicular fractures; its adjacent vein is the target of infraclavicular central lines.
