Function

Three-cornered ulnar-side carpal. Anchors the wrist's ulnar corner, gliding against the triangular fibrocartilage and passing ulnar-side load smoothly between forearm and hand.

Clinical relevance

The second most common carpal fracture — a dorsal chip sheared by the ulnar styloid in falls. Triquetrum fracture suggests associated TFCC injury.
