MuscleShoulder — rotator cuff
Teres minor
Latin: M. teres minor
Location: Shoulder
View the teres minor in 3DOrigin
Upper two-thirds of the lateral border of the scapula.
Insertion
Inferior facet of the greater tubercle of the humerus.
Action
Laterally rotates and weakly adducts the arm; the smallest cuff member sealing the shoulder's posterior-inferior corner.
Nerve supply
Axillary nerve (C5–C6).
Blood supply
Posterior circumflex humeral artery.
Clinical relevance
Axillary nerve palsy from shoulder dislocation affects teres minor with deltoid; quadrangular space syndrome compresses the nerve in the space bounded by teres minor (above), teres major (below), the long head of triceps and the humerus.
